I guess none of the 10k buck that survive their 1st season, survive their 2nd season?
You are correct that none of the 10K buck lost to non-hunting mortality survived to become 2.5+ buck. But enough buck did survive so that 46% of the buck harvested were 2.5+ buck and 20% of the buck harvested were 3.5+ buck.
