I am not an expert on bullistics, not even close. I'm just an average hunter so take what I say for what it's worth. I shot Rem. 150 gr. core-lokt pointed soft pt. bullets in my 30-06 for many years. I only had one bad encounter with them. I shot a 210 # buck 3 times andit took a long time for him to die. They shot great and They really tear a deer apart. They even saved my butt one time on a poor shot.the bullet came apart and a piece of it angled down thru the lungs.
I noticed a tendancy for them to come apart and as a result decided to check out some differentbullets.A friend who is knowledgable suggested I try the fusions. As I said earlier in this thread they have a controlled expansion and they really penetrate. I think they are great on largerdeer and I think they would be great on mule deer and elk. Some people say they are pricey but I'm not going to invest a lot of time and money into a hunt then skimp on my shells. For what it's worth I give the fusionstwo thumbs up

I have never tried the sst's.
