The real problem with the Texas AR's is similar to PA's AR's and AR's everywhere. That problem is that there is nothing that will ever satisfy the little bird short of returning to the failed ways of the past.
The failed ways of the past produced a buck harvest of 165 K and a 2.5+ buck harvest of 52,900 in 2002 . The new and improved deer management produced a buck harvest of 109K with only 48,048 2.5+ buck. And at the same time the new and improved deer management resulted in a 5% decrease in breeding rates along with decreased productivity and much lower antlerless harvests.
