RE: Let's Go Off Topic
I've got one centerfire rifle, a .243 M-77 Ruger that I bought in 1980...It's been updated with a Leupold
3x9x40 VX-II and the reticle has been changed to a Heavy Duplex...The trigger has been adjusted to
2 1/2 pounds, it had the action bedded, barrel free floated and replaced with a 24 inch Shilen...
In .22s...I have a Remington 541-T with a 3x9x33 Compact VX-II...A Remington 552 that I bought new in 1971 and a Ruger MK-II...
Shotguns...A .410 that I received in the 60s for Christmas, I think I was 8 at the time...A double barrel
12 gauge that I received when I was 12...A Remington 1100 deer shotgun and a Browning B-80...
I also have a Glock in .40 caliber that I use for concealed carry and a Ruger .357 Blackhawk...
In muzzleloaders I have a Knight Disc, a .40 caliber flintllock I bought in 1977 from Bob Watts and a
.54 flintlock I made in the 80s...
The funny thing is...Except for the flintlock that I made...The two that I value most are the oldest...
The Remington 552 and the 12 gauge double were used from the time I was 12 until 20 or so...I have killed a truck load of squirrels and a few deer with the .22...The 12 gauge has the blueing worn off the receiver and was used on deer, squirrels, ducks, rabbits, doves, geese and crows...
These were the guns that I'd grab after school or Saturday morning after alll the chores were done, head out the back door and just go hunting for whatever was in season...
