Guys, you wanted an update on the test with the T/C Gorilla Grip Rings and bases. One word - Great.
After sighting in the scope on the Genesis, I took the 2 cross bolts out keeping a mental note of the tension requried to remove them. Took the scope completely off the bases then reinstalled it. Tightened up the cross bolts and fired 2 shots at 50 yds. Both went right where they were supposed to. Took it off again and repeated with the same results at 100 yds.
My buddy brought an old frying pan to shoot at at 100 yds and had it full of holes with his Pursuit by the time I got done playing with my scope and mounts. But just for kicks, I reloaded and told him I was going to aim right where the pan was touching the snow (he had the handle in the snow holding it up). Took the handle right off that sucker where it attached to the pan.
If you decide on getting these mounts and rings check out the Walmart. I picked mine up for $9.00.
On a side note, as I was walking back to the bench after checking out the 100 yd target and about30 yds behind the25 yd target I found one of my 300 gr XTPs laying on top of the snow. What good fortune. Looks like it traveled through the semihard packed snow then resurfaced. Looks like it performed and held together well. Check out the pic.
