Default RE: COLD WEATHER SIGHTINGS IN DELAWARE

lemmond33, Honeysuckle is one of the few green plants left (besides evergreen trees!!!). It grows to about waist high although when attached to a tree, it can go several feet overhead. It is a high protien food deer love. Its non-native to the US (its actually from Japan, hence the name Japanese Honeysuckle!!). It grows almost anywhere. The best patches I have found are secluded near good water sources like stream bottoms. It grows well in pine patches that are about ten to 15 feet high!! If the weather dips cold and/or we get a good snow fall, you will know where the honeysuckle is by following the tracks!! The patch I have been huting covers several acres. The trails are torn up but it is proving tough to hunt. I can hear deer, see an occaisonal back or horns, but getting close is tough. No good tree nearby!! Good luck. Hope it helps!!
