RE: What is the best woodchuck gun?
Like I said before there are some things that people like James will never understand. By the way that Bushnel scope could be some of the reasom for that 700s inconsistant accuracy.
Now as to wildcats. Bet you got more then one!!! Lets see what factory rounds started as wildcats, Hmmmm. The 250 Savage gave rise to 22-250, it used to be the 22 Varmiter untill introduced by Winchester. On the same case we have the .243 Win. Ex wildcats such as .25/06 .270 .280 Rem and .35 Whalan all based on the 3006 case.
7mm08, 260 Rem. and a few others came from the .308. Just a few more, 7mm Mashburn now is called the 7mm Rem Mag. Actually when you come right down to it anything with a belt owes it parentage to the good old 300 H&H and the 375 H&H. When you come right down to it there are hardly any cartridges out there that the big companies did beg borrow or steal from the Wildcaters. Look at the 7mm STW for example.
You know maby you should be thankful for the tinkers out there with out them you would not have your 22-250 and maby nothing to bitch about, but I doubt it.
Have a nice day and yes .22-250 is an excelent cartridge, I never said it wasn' t. 220 Swift, another Wildcat also is good for chucks.
