Just got in from a thrilling predator hunt!
Is was a little cold too (Ha)... I went down behind the house about an hour before dark with my electronic predator call...I just got comfortable and hit the cottontail rabbit distress...I gave it about a minute and hit it again...It went for about 5 seconds and wam...out of nowhere there is a red fox coming straight at me...the call is in my hand and my gun is on my shoulder....i instantly turned off the call and the fox stopped...10 yards from me...we are now in a stare-down...i knew i was going to have to go for my gun and shoot it on the run...I made my move and sure enough it turned and went straight away from me...by the time I got my gun up it was at about 50 yards and I let out a screech and it turned broadside and stopped...between the 0 degree temps and the adrenaline rushing...u know the rest...I missed and away he went...It will be a hunt that I will not soon forget thats for sure...I learned one thing and that is to never call without your gun up and ready to go...Anyone else been having any luck with coyotes or foxes?
