A lot of guys give me crap about how heavy it is but here in IN a long walk to a calling spot is 1/2 mile so the weight doesn't bother me much.
You need to get out more. 1/2 mile won't get you over the first hill here in Southern Indiana.

I carried a Savage Model 12 lowprofile for a couple years.... weighed 16.25 pounds loaded. I called coyotes in over 50 of Indiana's 92with that gun. Killed around 250 animals with it. Great choice for a calling rifle in my opinion- as long as you call enough critters to justify carrying it.

Sold it last year- sticking to a pair of twin AR's now chambered in 25WSSM.

and this is why I now pay attention to bullet style. No more hollow points!!!
Again, your ill-informed if you think 1 or 2 coyotes have taught you something about bullet selection. Hollow points are the most lethal and fur-friendly round you can shoot out of that weapon.

The wound you've shown in the picture is a result of poor shot placement and/or close range. Soft points lack the power and expansion that hollow points offer- and therefor lack kill power. They have a tendancy to pierce but not roll a coyote. Ballistic tips will often shoot more accurately than hollowpoints but aren't as fur friendly. They also performinconsistantly whenpassing thrutissue... some splash, some pass thru and some anchor perfectly. It's a guessing game with Ballistic Tips, soft points result in too many blood trails. Hollow points are the perfect choice for coyotes in that weapon.
