A friend and I will be going on a DIY archery elk hunt in the 2nd or 3rd week of September. We have a place to stay in South Fork so I'm looking for any hot spots in that area. We will probably be hunting mainly unit 78 and 77 (near Pagosa Springs). I was wondering if anyone had any pointers or knew of any good locations in that area as we won't be able to make a preseason trip for scouting. Any info will be greatly appreciated. Also any suggestions on where to go to learn aboutcalling technique and basic elk hunting info. Thanks guys.
