RE: Sidearm for Bear
If you're hunting with a rifle there's really no need to carry a sidearm. I used to get this question a lot from guys who were coming to Alaska to hunt bears with me. I told them the same thing I'm saying here.
As already stated though a 12 gauge would be a lot more effective than a handgun.
