You can get the rope from a mail order place or a pro shop. You must put a know at both ends, burn a ball on both ends, or put epoxy on both ends. That will keep it from slipping. Bigger stores might have loops with pre-tied or burned ends. The best length is a little under 4.5". I would recommend having just one string nock. Good luck.
