Actually if you had a Weatherby outshoot anything it was probably the luck of the draw. I have yet to see one shoot under an inch and a half at 100 yards with any load. They just aren' t known for accuracy. Pretty rifles, but you couldn' t give me one. Not into wallhangers.

losthwy, if you are looking for something easy on the pocketbook, easy on the shoulder and will serve as a backup then I would look at a Savage in 270 Win, 7mm-08 Rem or even 243 Win. All of them could also serve as varmint cartridges too.
