Oh ok, that will save me some primers. I'll definitely find a way to fire a primer off before a hunt. I was suprised at how easily the barrel cleaned up with soapy water.
The shooting off of a primer is not all that big of a concern as far as rusting. I was told my a person big into reloading that the powder used in primers is non corrosive. This would mean if you had to shoot a primer off two days in advance before you load the rifle, there should be little harm in doing any damage to the rifle to let it sit there. If a reloader knows better, please speak up here.
The cleaning of the small breech plug port with a Q-tip just makes things a lot easier. And I have to agree with you, the Genesis is a very easy rifle to clean.
