Like others have said, you are more then likely way too stiff. 1916is agood starting point and should get you close. To bring things into comparison, I use a 2117 (higher deflection then 2216) for my 67# recurve. I use a 2016 for my 54# recurve.

Also, since you got it for Christmas, I wouldn't bother worrying about tuning it for a while. Do some bail shooting and develop form. Maybe mess around some trying to shoot accurate, but keep it about 50/50. For bail shooting, I wouldn't worry about shooting the 2216's, that is unless you are wacking the riser with the arrow.
