I wanted to format a new SD card.

I plugged the remote in. The remote lit up with the time I had set for trigger shots and the camera icon and maybe something else, not sure about that. When I attempted to access the menu function, it wouldn't work. After several attempts I just gave up and installed the new card without formatting. It just wouldn't bring anything up other than the initail icons.
As for the plugs, what is the difference in the two?
