RE: cleaning supplies
I like to use either Remington Action Cleaner spray or Shotgun Cleaner spray on the breech plug threads of the barrel. Either of those will blast any grease right out of there. I'm sure brake parts cleaner would do the same thing. I like RemOil as far as lubrication and preservation goes. CLP is good too but it kind of stinks. I use Remington Express Clean spray solvent for the bore after shooting. That's because I shoot BH209 which requires a solvent to clean. If you use any of the other BP subs, you can use water to clean. You'll definitely want to get some 2 1/2" bore patches. Those are perfect size for a .50 cal muzzleloader.
