When I shot 50#, I shot 30" 2018's and eventually 2117's. They both worked well. I prefer shooting off the shelf as it puts the arrow closer to my hand. This makes instinctive shooting easier for me. Aiming, for me is like pointing my finger. I use a piece of self-sticking velcro (the fuzzy side) on my shelf. If it wears out, I slap another one on. Under the velcro I have a paper match-sized piece of buckskin glued across the shelf at the high point to act as a single contact point for the arrow. I do not have flight problems.
