I think there comes a time when a buck is " courting" a doe when his survival is still his highest priority. Sure, he stays with her waiting for his chance, but he cares more about his safety than anything else. That being said, when a doe gets closer and closer to estures (sp) and she now is willing to mate, he is definitely aware of this and his priority will focus soley on the doe. He will do things he would never consider during other times of the year. Caution will be thrown to the wind and his safety and well-being will now play second fiddle. If he' s lucky, he' ll be around for another year to play again...
