Default RE: Pics of my SD Muzzleloader buck

My, my, what a nice nice buck Jared. I hunt the hills myself; have only seen bucks near that nice right here in town around our house. I have never seen a 5 point that was as uniform as yours.

Mark, over the years i have killed and eaten many many deer. I have never eaten a corn fed Whitetail. I have eaten both mule deer and whitetail that lived in the mountains. I don't recall any taste difference. I have eaten both whitetail and mule deer that lived in the foot hills, and had access to winter wheat fields. They may have tasted different than the mountain deer, i can't really say. They did taste good. We mostly hunt for food, in our family, and try to avoid big bucks and big bulls. If we have a full freezer, we like killing big necked bucks, and trading them for sausage. We find the cooking smell of a big necked buck unbearable, and the meat of a big bull like chewing on a boot. Ironically the meat of a big pronghorn is real good. The smell of the pronghorn buck gets on one's hands and is quite overwhelming; seems like it never goes away. It seems weird to me that they smell ok cooking and are tender and have a good flavor.
