Ya'll must have some small cedars. Ours grow to be pretty big. If its big enough for a stand, then put one in it.
Same thing I am thinking as well! We have some pretty big cedar in our cedar swamps that will easily grow close is size of spruce up here. The only problem with finding them is staying away from the heavily cut areas. Even then some of the big tall cedars are left behind to help grow more trees with. I see nothing wrong with using a cedar for cover to place a tree stand in if you want to. Breaking a few branches out of the way could very well give you some nice cover scent to boot. Just make sure it is near a trail that deer are using to come in and out of the swamp with.
