i contacted remington and they said to send it in from an authorized remington rep. it seems the only one in my area is a gunshop that i will no longer frequent. so i talked to a trusted gunsmith, he wanted to inspect the rifle of course, but he said he had a similar problem with a rifle some time ago and the chamber was too long and that the case was setting too deep. after a little work the rifle was fine.
