We had the 1st Leg of the Texas IBO Triple Crown here a few weeks ago and I would like to get some opinions on a situation that happened there.

The Class involved was the Master Class, where you have to be over 60 years old.
The Maximum yardage is suppose to be 45 yd. We had one target that was stretched way out there. It was hard to judge the yardage because the grass was about 18" tall all the way from the Stake to the target, almost like shooting across water.

Anyway it was easy to tell it was way Out there so everyone figured it was at the 45 yard maximum so almost everyone shot it for 45 yd but it was actually 49 yd. Everyone shot the same target and almost everyone shot a low " 8" on it.

One person thought it was only 40 yd and shot a Zero. So he threw a little fit because the target wasn’t legal. He is also an IBO Rep. So he wanted the target thrown out. I think they finally decided to throw the target out, but even after not counting the actual score shot on that target he still wasn’t in 1st place. He had shot a 273, on 30 targets, and the high score was a 284. So in order for him to win they took 11 points off of the winning score. The person who had shot the 284 had shot an 8 on the target but they took 11 points off of his total. Which put him in a tie with the person who had missed it all together. The guy that shot the 284 had already left so being he wasn’t there for a shoot off they gave it to the one that had missed the target because he had misjudged it by 10 yd.

How can anyone justify taking off 11 points from someone’s score when he had only shot an 8 on it. They shouldn’t have taken anything off of anyone’s score because everyone shot the same target. Legal distance or not, everybody shot the same target at the same distance.
