True. But unless you have a (very good) lawyer following you around wherever you go, it's highly unlikely that anyone can avoid being ignorant of all the minutae contained in the law these days. If our legal system was as it should be, and was meant to be by the founders of this country, then this would be less of a problem.

The Constitution of the United States of America, including all 27 amendments, is about 12 pages long. The US tax code (Title 26) is a total of 16,845 pages long, filling 20 volumes. For comparison, the Holy Bible (Revised Standard Version-Catholic Edition, the one I use, which contains the complete canon of scripture), is 1,272 pages.

So while ignorance of the law is no excuse, I think it's safe to say that ignorance of the law is unavoidable.
