I'd agree with Lane that the .40 cal 200 grain XTP is a good place to start - seems to shoot well out of most .45's. It also is an excellent performer on deer. The 200 grain SST is another good choice to try out. Both shoot consistently under 2" groups at 100 yards in my CVA .45. If you have some Gold dots already, go ahead and try them out. I personally wouldn't push them super, super fast- I would worry about overexpansion. But with a moderate powder charge they should do great on deer.
