.270 is a good gun yea but in my eyes...and remember this is in MY EYES...i think there a bit overated. But dont get me wrong they work awfully well especially for whitetails. But if i were u and had the money to get another then wuldnt be hesitant a bit....try looking into like a 300 win. mag., 30-06, 25-06, 7mm 08 or hell the 30-30 and 243 work well to.
i would pick a 270 for whitetail before i would pick ony one of those except maybe a 243,why would you need a 300 mag for deer?
