Right now we have narrowed our options down to either savannah nwr hog hunt, or ft stewart. Can anyone recommend either of these or any other place?
If you choose to go to Savannah NWR, I'll see you there ! I do that hunt every year. Usually turns into a great party hunt with several hunting buddies and some friends from the Georgia side of the refuge. We do some stand hunting, lots of stalking, and a fewman drives. Bring ajon boat. It's almost impossible to get around to the little islands in the swamp without one. The whole area floods with the tides. So where you start hunting on dry ground, may be underwater a few hours later. Stands are are difficult as all the trees are Cypress and that makes for a hard climb (bases of trees are 4 timeswider than the middle). Bring a shotgun with a rifled barrel and slugs if you plan to stalk. Bow hunting from ground level is gonna be dang hard with all the thick cover. PM me if you need more info. We usually camp all week at nearby Hardeeville. (Stoneycrest Plantation and Campground).
And if you still want to bowhunt in SC during the spring, I could let you hunt the beaver ponds on my club in Iva, SC. Plenty of hogs moving in the daytime still that time of year. Just can't be during our turkey season (April 1 - May 1).
