look all over..birds will be grouped up and in the fall (in my experience) they tend to move their rosting spots around...so if you find prints, poop J shape, or feathers then you can conclude that the birds do come in that general area, but they may not be there......get their early and get as high as you can on any mountain or hill to listen for gobbles...sometimes they will gobble before they fly down..also you can listen in the evening for gobbles.

in the fall birds tend to, once they fly down, go to an open area...after this they will go into the timber and mill around for the day...again usually...
