Make sure you load them hot enough. i tried the .40 cal 235 in a 1:48 twist at a low charge(70gr Pyro RS I think) Had one go through target sideways at 50 yds. I shoot Noslers at game

The problem isn't the load, it's your twist. 1:48 is extremely marginal for the .40s to begin with, if they work at all. It will not likely stabilize them. 1:32 or 1:28.

I've gotten away with 240gr HTPs in 1:48, but that is a .44 bullet. So take the same weight roughly, stretch it out so it is only .40cal, and it'll no longer stabilize. If you must try a .40 in that gun go the lighter weight ones, or go up in caliber if you want to shoot the heavier bullets and it should work.
