I am considering purchasing remingtons 700 SPS for coyote hunting but I'm having trouble deciding on a cartridge. Most of my shots will probably be out there at about200-250 yards or more unless I canget them in closer but where I have been seeing them theyhave been about 200 yards out. I know a .223 has more knock down power but the .22-250 shoots flatter. I would like to sell the fur so I am worried about hide damage also.I guess I just need someone else's opinion. Any help???
I would think the 223 is your only choice here. The 22-250 does not come in the 700SPS. If you want an out of the box tack driver that is cheaper than a been around brand name, choose Howa. 22-250 is the way to go. You don't need a heavy barrel either. The normal barrels shoot just as accurate as the bull barrels. The only reason a bull barrel would be needed for accuracy is if you live where you have lots of prairie dogs and are constantly shooting without a minute or 2 without cool down. For the states that don't have prairie dogs. A reg barrel will shoot just as accurate and kill just the same.
