I just wanted to say thanks to everyone who gave input on this thread. I went out this weekend and after looking for a 25-06 and only finding them way out of my price range or junk I decided on a .243 Savage. I never would have picked it without all the good words that were said about it here. Thanks for convincing me to take a second look at it.
I also have the 243 in the Savage with accutriger. Topped it with a Nikon Prostaff and absolutely love this gun. Accurate, low recoil, shoots great. Have downed deer up to and including 150+ yards and punch paper at 400. Good luck with your new rifle. I am betting you will see it does what you want it to do
