Default RE: USDA Bans imports from Canada

A bit of an update from another site I visit.
I just got of the phone with Dr. Macarty (with the USDA) here in Michigan. He refered me to the site I listed below. On this site is a place for comments. These comments must be in by July 28th. He said it will take about 30 days for all comments to considered and about 60 days after that for any changes to be made. He did mention that this time line is only what he believes will take place. Wish I could be posting better news but there it is, fair and balanced.. Heres the website for your reading pleasure..

Click on the link in the quote and you will find a link to send comments via email. I' m not great at writing letters but if you' d like, you could copy and paste mine. Its better than nothing.
aphis-usda: I' m writing to ask for consideration to be made for those of us with plans to hunt moose and caribou in Canada this fall. These animals, as I understand, are banned from entering the U.S. at this time. I, and I' m sure others, would like to see some sort of allowance made that would permit us to bring back meat from these animals for personal consumption. I don' t feel packaged meat, that is cut wrapped and frozen from wild game, should be included in a ban to prevent BSE from a lone cow in Alberta.

Some of us have worked, saved, and planned for years to go on these hunts. Many of us will loose thousands in deposits for cancelations. Please consider all U.S. citizens before finalizing this ban.

Thank You
Kevin
