That's exactly the 1st handgun barrel I ever got for my encore and it's just plain deadly on ky whitetails. He's asking about straightwalled handgun cartridges so my 1st thought is my favorite of all time revolver cartridge-the .454 casull. if TC don't sell .454 chambered barrels,get a .45LC barrel and rechamber-it's well worth it as the casull is roughly twice the power as a lot of .44 magnum loads. If you don't want to go to that kind of trouble,just get a .460 S&W barrel. It'll be good past 200 yards.

I put a 15" 7mm-08 barrel on mine. I have not shot a deer with it but I hammered a big black bear with it in 2005. It did a number on him big time. I want to shoot an elk with it sometime.
