Default RE: Extra young Hunter scores!

More of the story ...

Hunter had shot a rifle with a scope before, but he had not shot the .223. We went to target practice, but he wouldn’t shoot. He said he couldn’t keep the scope still enough (which is probably true – he’s a perfectionist), but I think he was a little scared of it, too. After about 30 minutes we decided to head out. I told him if we saw a hog or a coyote, I would shoot it for him. When we got to the stand we saw a small 6-point before the two doe stepped out. He asked if he could look at them through the scope, and I said OK. After a few seconds he said, “ I can hold it steady on her.” I asked if he was sure and he said yes. I told him I would take the safety off but that he would have to make sure and squeeze the trigger so it wouldn’t come off her shoulder. He said OK so I eased it off and placed his pointer finger and middle finger on the trigger slowly. I reminded him to squeeze the trigger and watched his tinyknuckles slowly turn white. The gun went off and she hit the ground. She kicked and bleated, but he just smiled.
