I've shot a deer in Missouri, too so I know what you're talking about (see above pic). As a rule (there are exceptions)body size increases as you move north. This could be due to habitat, weather, or a combination of factors. However, this deer was smaller than normal -175 is about average, and he was only 150 on the hoof. We're having his jaw double-checked, but we believe he's a 3.5 year old. His rack is not typical for East Texas either (you may be thinking South Texas). Our racks are usually heavy, but narrow. Splits are also very rare.
