Actually I've shot deer that were facing me and dropped them. I just aim at the chest at the base of the neck. Spine shot. Game over. How is that an amateur shot?
Depends on how you look at it? If you think thats considered a humane shot then thats you business. Im not saying it cant be done, just giving my opinion. Ive shot deer in the neck but they wernt big bucks. I wouldnt risk losing a nice deer by shooting him in the chest because there is less room for error there than a broadside shot. Im gonna say a chest shot on a nice buck is AMATEUR cause thats what i think. hunting is about patience, if you dont have the patience to wait for the a good clean shot then thats you, and you will be spending the time that you could have spent waiting on a good shot on finding your deer!
