I finally have a buck tag for an Earn A Buck unit I have been hunting, I'm stoked!!!!!
Well I went out this morning in the South Kettles hoping to shoot a Doe, and I did just that! I had 2 come across a fence row off some private land onto public and headed right towards me. I waited for them to get closer and checked and re-checked, yep a Nice Doe with a younger deer in Tow. I glassed them made sure I was on the bigger one, waited for them to get with in 65 yards and squeezed the trigger on the 870 and hit her in the spine,, what a bummer. She went right down but let out a whale of a noise that's not to pleasant on the ears! I put another one into her and noticed that the little Doe was still around I tried a couple of shot on her but missed, was shaking to bad. I so happy I got another buck tag for archery if I don't fill it with the Flintlock this next week! All I have been seeing in this area are bucks, some real nice one to boot! I also had a couple more come thru, one was a nubbin, let him walk waiting for his Momma to give me a better shot but never did!
