Nice shot.
So if typically if I shot open sights for turkey anyway, the small dot sight for deer wouldn't be a problem on turkey. It would be a step up from the open sights, but not your first choice for bird. Anyway, I'm not a maniac turkey hunter, pretty recreational on that - if they're around, I'll try to pop one.

If I sighted in my dot for 35-45 yards for deer then would it be useless on the long barrel with full choke? I'd obviously be shooting half that distance for turkey and just using the dot as a rough guide?

I just really would hate to have it blocking my aperture, or getting in the way or anything. But yes, understood I'd regularly sight in at the top of the season for each. I don't want to take it on & off.
