Default Sometimes you have to improvise(:

This spot I discovered on a new farm had absolutley no way to hunt when there is a NW wind except for two scrawny little 15 ft pinoaks. The tree was so little that a ratchet strap wouldn't tighten tight enough around the trunk so I improvised. I found a 6' log in gthe woods and hauled it up and hooked it on a limb and used it as a "filler". EXTREMELY safe or I wouldn't have done it. I am sitting only 8-9 ft off of the ground..but a river is directly behind me to the south with a steep bank, a fence creates a natural funnel to the east of me, and standing corn a week ago when I took this pic. I also had a doe walk right by me and never look up or see me. I only hunted for a couple of hoursone day from this stand and never got busted. It was the only day that we had a NW wind and I could hunt in it.I wanted to show you that you can always make do if the location warrants it. I used a New Millenium and I use two ratchet straps instead of the supplied chain. The New Millenium mount fit on the tree but I needed the tree to be thicker for the ratchet strap. I also had other deer in the area and they never looked up at me.

Here comes pinoak buck

10 yds from my tree

Under me..just feet away. No carbon clothing or scent control gimmicks

His body is directlyu under me under that big leaf in the upper right.
He stayed under me for sometime just standing there and looking around to the North.
directly under me...just ft away

Here he is walking away to the west.
