Get the 7m-08 in a 7 pound rifle and be done with it. The recoil diff between 260 and 7m-08 isn' t significant.
Can' t go wrong and yes it will kick a lot less than a 30-06.
Put on a good recoil pad with some give to it and go for it.
If you really want it to be a light kicker have a gunsmith put a mercury recoil compensator in the stock, I have one in my 300 and it helps a lot.
