SCOTT,nice buck.
its nice hunting on privateland and able to pattern a nd get buck like that.
Thanks. However, I've never patterned a buck up at our camp. We are amidst 100,000 acres of unbroken forest, swamp and overgrown clearcuts. The deer are like needles in a hay stack. You have to really do your scouting and then still have luck on your side. I never saw this buck before. I just decided to try and rattle in an area that does inhabit because the rain was so hard I had nothing to lose. Sucker came right in. The last buck I got before him was the 2004 archery season. Never knew he existed either. I left my stand for the day and actually walked right up on him. It was rainy and foggy and I guess he figured I didn't see him. Oh well.
rattling is a lot of fun.
deer on publicland dont seem to come to it do to pressure on them.
that is what i was commenting on.
when i used to go to canada hunting big bucks, they would fly us in and no one around.
you could RATTLE in many bucks,i miss that.
i even tried grunt call this year and i know i scared a buck away.
publicland deer left are very spooky and very hard to pattern UNLESS they are coming into apples etc but then everyone knows that too.
