In the area that this buck was shot, if it is brown it can go down. We regulate deer type and size by county here in Virginia. We have a very long season that starts in early sept (select counties) or first weekend in Oct to last friday for archery. First weekend in Nov. for a two week period for BP season. Then it is gun season till first weekend in Jan. We can take up to six tags with our big game license and can buy additional tags. We don't want for deer around here.

Just came back from Home Depot and picked up my deep freeze (7.5 cu.). I will plug it in and then fill it up and make the little woman happy. Now I can put a turkey in her kitchen freezer for Thanksgiving dinner! I still have four more tags to go.

I have used this XTP bullet before and have taken four other deer in the last two years. Of that I had only one that didn't expand, one that blew a hole the size of a shotgun slug, and two that expanded normally. This bullet this year was from a new box and may be from a bad batch. Who knows. All the shot loads were the same charges. I learned a long time ago not to try to upset the ways of the universe when you are on a roll. I spend a lot of time and effort in formulatingmy loads, whether for a ML or a cartridge gun. I don't shoot commercial rounds unless at the police range or for personal carry (I am restricted to carry commerical by dept. policy) . All the rest I only trust my loads.
