Dealing with the cold
I was hunting this weekend and had to wear long underwear, sweats, a thick one piece camo deal, thick blaze orange bibs, and a thick blaze orange jacket to keep warm in the stand for 4 hours at a time. I had to wear the blaze orange because it is also gun season for deer. It was about 20ºF in Northeastern, Minnesota, windy and snowy. Not ideal hunting weather at all and it's only November, so it is going to get a lot worse. I have not had any opportunities while in the stand at all this season, but I have until the end of the year.
While in the stand this weekend, I thought that I would try to draw back on my 82nd, just to see how it felt with all the extra clothing on. It wasn't that tough to get it back, but I couldn't get the string to my nose because of all the bulk.
What do you guys do to deal with this problem aside from hunting in warmer states and earlier in the season?
