I pushed hard during bow season and never made my match on the bucks I had coming into the I40. After passing on countless year and half old bucks Nov. 15 has already arrived.
In Michigan we get 5 doe tags this year and the 550 acre piece I hunt in Huron County is loaded with deer. We're starting to get the ratio's correct and we're also starting to see more 120 class bucks as a result.
Opening Day - I passed on countless small bucksbut managed to grab somegood video of a few doe that I took.
I'm very proud of my H&R Ultra Slug 12 gauge and I use Hornady SST's that are sighted Zero at 150 yards. I have grown confident with this gun. In low wind conditions with my range finder I'll take a shot out to 200 yards.
And this year I did it!
3 doe this weekend - 132 yards, 155 yards, & 197 yards. I never made video of the 200 yard shot because it was a spot and stalk type deal and I was alone.
This is a pretty intense video but it was a great opener and I've still got 3 bucks I'll be watching for.
All animals were found within a few yards from where I took them.
Great Job to Rory on his big buck!
