Default RE: Official Team 1 Thread

Well, no bucks today, coulda taken a chip shot (9 yards?) at a small 7 pointer, but with a forecast of rain by 1pm for today, and not seeing many deer this morning, I was watching a doe and fawn for about a half an hour, and when they started working my way, I decided that if they passed through on the trail under the stand I would try to harvest the doe.

Well as fate would have it, they did (14 yards) and I took the shot on the doe.

Thought it looked good, she ran 25-30 yards the way she came, stopped, looked around, and started walking through some brush (still under 30 yards) and stopped, looking around.

Starting to get worried at this point, I could see the side opposite of the shot, but no blood.

Finally she looked away long enough that I could get the binoculars up on her, saw the exit hole, right behind her front shoulder, good sized hole, but no blood.....what the...?????

She stood there for a several minutes, then kinda hunched up and staggered a little bit, that is good, but still didn't see any blood coming out of the wound.

She walks through the brush another 3-4 yards into the clearing and stands there looking around, then beds up. She lays there panting for about 10-15 minutes. Tries to get up once, can't do it, and shortly there after expires.

First picture is of the doe from the stand, second picture is of me and the doe (I went home and changed, and got some help to drag her out, thanks dad, and the stand is in the tree to the right of me.)

Unless I totally flubbed the shot, she must have taken a step at the point of the shot, took her through the front of the stomach, liver and clipped the spleen, slight quartering away shot.

Finally got the new bow broke in........
