RE: Whats Your Deer Rifle(s)?
I hunt with an antique, a manlicher-schoenauer 7.65 x 54. It's the first gun I bought with my father in 68. Use to find norma loads for around $60 a box, but those days are gone. Norma doesn't make it anymore. It's a great rifle.Light, all stock, no extended barrel, feels like a 22 but packs a whollop. From what I understand, it was the same type of rifle that Oswald used. I've got about 4 boxes of spent shells, so I'll try to get them reloaded. The only place I know of to get rounds is the old western scrounger.com where they have antique ammo, and I'm going to get a couple of boxes. If anybody has seen some of this ammo around, let me know.
My son bought a browning A-bolt .270 about 4 years ago, and it seams like a beautiful gun. I'd get one of those if I was to buy another rifle, but don't seem like it's necessary right now.
