The d40 is okay. I don't like the quality of the pictures that it produces though and they don't have great battery life and they have a "sleep mode" that takes an extra 2 seconds for them to wake up before they trigger if it has been a while since they took their last picture (I think it is after 10 minutes they go into sleep mode).

I don't think the d40 is a useable "trail" camera either, but it does okay as a bait cameraalthoughitdoesn't take as good of pictures or have as reliable of a sensor as the Stealth I-590 that is about $30 cheaper. There seem to be more problems with the d40's as well.
