I would have put the pin at center mass right behind the shoulder, that way if the arrow went a little high or a little low you would still be in the vitals. Your point is a good one however. Too often we worry about being able to split hairs at 40 plus yards when in reality we would be better served practicing shots at ten yards and less. Both deer I shot this year were at five or six yards. This was complicated by the fact I was in a treestand and was shooting at a very steep angle. I managed to make both shots (one being much better then the other) and got both deer. However I wish they were shots I had practiced more.

Center mass is probably what i should have done. You are right. I just wonder what the actual correction is
