I'm terrible...one thing after another.
Returned tonight to my stand splitting two standing corn fields in a small finger of woods. I was here on Wednesday, and had a decent 6 point chasing a doe behind me. Well, tonight I had them back in again, but they won't break that cover, and come out for a shot. As the night went on and it got darker, I was sure they had moved on, so I climbed down. I got down to the last step on my climbing stick, and BAM, busted! A doe wasn't more than 30yds away in the thick nasty stuff. I NEVER saw her, nor would I have been able to. It's very thick. This season has been trying for me, and it's one thing after another. I was finally closing in on a location where I knew a buck was working, and I blew it.
The problem is, I really can only hunt three stands on my property at this point during the week evenings because of DST ending (they're the only one's I can get to quickly enough). I'm thinking this stand is done for good seeing as our season is over a week from tomorrow, but I'm wondering if I should still hit it once or twice again next week. Thoughts?
