Default Sighted In 45/70 Marlin Today

Sighted in my 45/70 Marlin Guide Gun today and man was I ever pleased how good these guns shoot with that 18 inch barrel they have.Used my Leupold boresighter first to get it on paper.Shot a total of 16 times to get it completely zeroed in and also to get used to it some since I had never shot a 45/70 before. My last 10 shots at 50 yards measured 1 inch center to center shooting Winchester 300 grain hollowpoint Super X.I love the thicker barrel on this short gun as I think the stiffness makes it so accurate.I love shooting big heavy bullets anyway as my shots usually are no more than 50 to 90 yards as I hunt the mountains. So I know this year Good Lord willing I am going to be carrying this all rifle season instead of my very heavy slug gun. This is such a light rifle to carry.Any way all I can say is I love my 45/70 Marlin for short range hunting as that is mostly all we have here.
